WHEEL BASICS YOU SHOULD KNOW
What is considered a factory original replacement wheel?
A factory original wheel—also called an OEM wheel—is made by or for the vehicle’s manufacturer and was installed when the car was new.
Are your wheels genuine OEM?
Yes! All of our wheels are factory original OEM wheels and rims. If we ever offer replica wheels, they will be clearly noted in the product description.
Are your wheels new or used?
Our wheels are used OEM wheels that have been professionally reconditioned to meet original manufacturer specifications. Safety is our top priority, so we inspect every wheel thoroughly before, during, and after reconditioning.
What are steel wheels?
Heavy-duty wheels made from steel, known for strength and durability.
What are alloy wheels?
Lightweight wheels made from aluminum or magnesium blends, often more stylish and performance-oriented.
What are staggered wheels?
Staggered wheels have different widths for the front and rear of a vehicle. They’re often used on rear-wheel-drive cars to enhance traction and performance.
Do wheels come with lug nuts?
No. Wheels are sold without lug nuts. In most cases, you can reuse the lug nuts from your current wheels.
Do wheels come with hubcaps?
No. We do not sell hubcaps, and they are not included with the wheels.
WHEEL CARE, SAFETY & MAINTENANCE
How can I prevent wheel damage on rough or harsh roads?
Avoid potholes, when possible, drive carefully over speed bumps, and keep your tires properly inflated to absorb impact. Using stronger wheels like steel in rough conditions can also help prevent damage.
What are the signs of an unsafe wheel?
Look out for cracks, severe bends, air leaks, or vibrations while driving. These may affect vehicle safety and should be inspected or replaced immediately.
Why does proper wheel fitment matter?
Using the wrong size or type of wheel can affect handling, braking, and tire wear—and may be unsafe. Always use OEM or properly spec’d replacement wheels.
How can I keep OEM wheels looking new?
Wash your wheels weekly and apply a sealant or wax monthly. Always use non-abrasive sponges to prevent scratches. For machined or polished finishes, consider occasional polishing to maintain shine.
How do I know if my wheels need to be reconditioned?
If your wheels have curb rash, bends, cracks, peeling finish, or corrosion, they may need reconditioning. A visual inspection or vibration while driving are common signs.
What's the difference between chrome-clad and chrome-plated wheels?
- Chrome-clad wheels feature a plastic chrome hubcap attached to the wheel. They're less expensive but not repairable once damaged.
- Chrome-plated wheels are traditionally plated metal and more expensive to refinish or repair.
What’s the difference between polished and chrome wheels?
- Polished wheels are aluminum wheels buffed to a high shine, while chrome wheels are coated with a layer of chrome.
- Chrome wheels are heavier and require more maintenance to prevent corrosion.
How can I tell if my stock wheel has a sparkle silver or hyper silver finish?
Sparkle silver wheels include visible metallic flakes for added shine. Hyper silver wheels usually have a lighter base coat with no visible flakes. Both are common OEM finishes.
How do I protect my wheels in harsh weather or winter?
Road salt, snow, and moisture can cause corrosion—especially on steel or chrome wheels. Rinse your wheels regularly in winter, apply a protective sealant, and consider switching to winter wheels if possible.
KEY WHEEL ISSUES EVERY SHOP SHOULD CHECK
Are there cracks in the wheel?
Cracks—especially on the inner barrel—can lead to air leaks or total failure. These are serious safety concerns and should be addressed immediately.
Is the wheel bent or warped?
Bent wheels can cause vibrations, poor handling, or uneven tire wear. Shops should spin-balance wheels and check for visible bends, especially on the inner lip.
Is the wheel leaking air?
Slow air leaks may come from corrosion around the bead seat or damage on the rim. If tire pressure keeps dropping, the wheel may be the issue—not the tire.
Is the finish peeling or corroding?
Peeling clear coat or corrosion—especially on chrome or polished wheels—can spread and lead to structural damage over time. It also affects resale value and appearance.
Is the wheel the correct size and offset?
Aftermarket or mismatched wheels may have incorrect offset, which can stress suspension components or cause clearance issues. Always verify OEM specs.
Can I buy just one wheel?
Yes! We sell single wheels, full sets, and everything in between. Whether you're replacing one damaged rim or restocking, we've got you covered.
Do I need to know the part number?
No. Just send us a clear photo of the wheel, and we’ll identify it for you. If you have the Hollander or OEM part number, even better—but it’s not required.
Will I get a tracking number?
Yes. Once your wheel ships, you’ll receive a tracking number via email or text.
Do you offer wholesale pricing?
Yes, we offer discounted pricing for qualified shops and dealers. Call to register as a wholesale customer.
